Tips for Integrating Your Beauty Blog into an Instagram Account

The highly curated world of Instagram seems tailor-made for the beauty blogger. Each Instagram post is a snapshot into your expertise and your professional skills. Already many of the world’s most successful beauty gurus are turning Instagram into their brand springboard. Below has been compiled some easy ways to leverage your Instagram account to build a following and engage your fans.

Make Quality Posts

Don’t let any of your posts look rushed or incomplete. Beauty fans are looking for a polished and aspirational account with ideas they can use for themselves.

Be sure you are using a quality camera. Smartphones may be convenient, but a good camera makes all the difference. Quality photos will be more appealing and more likely to get you followers. Instagram’s included editing tools are fine for amateurs but consider using professional photo editing software to get the upgraded look you want.

 

Let Instagram Work for You

Take advantage of hashtags. Examine beauty accounts with similar content you are following and target some to drive traffic to your Instagram. Be sure to tag and hashtag the brands and products you use, especially when you are just starting out.

The Stories feature can be a big help to beauty bloggers. Stories can be comprised of a slideshow with still photos or include a 15-second video clip. Since they disappear after 24 hours, Stories can be a fun, light-hearted addition to your feed. This also gives your followers an inside look into your techniques, brand, and life.

Use the Instagram video feature to give your followers step-by-step directions to complete a desired look. For example, if you want to feature microblading for eyebrows, show a short video clip of the technique in action. Be sure to fully explain it in the description and tag the cosmetician or studio.

 

Understand Your Statistics

Just as you do when you manage your blog, be aware of your page statistics. Pay attention to what time of day your posts get the most visitors and schedule posts at those times. Instagram’s business tools provide statistics about your followers and what time of day they are online the most. Third-party statistics apps include Later, which has a free version and a paid version with more features.

 

Be Authentic

Don’t use any schemes to pay for followers. Build your brand naturally. Feature your Instagram presence on your blog and all your other social media sites. Follow quality accounts and encourage them to follow you back. Tag other bloggers and leverage others to help spread each other’s followers.
